The focus of Global Arts outreach program is entirely on Romania’s National Poet, Mihai Eminescu. Europe’s last great Romantic poet has languished in obscurity in the English-speaking world during the 130 years since his death – a fate that was inevitable without translations capable of presenting his premiere works in a manner that conveys their greatness.
The award-winning volume of Eminescu translations by Adrian G. Sahlean, The Legend of the Evening Star and Selected Poems, presents Eminescu’s greatest and most-loved poems in meter and rhyme translations that make possible a complete understanding of the poet’s intent while conveying the musicality of the Romanian originals. This is the first volume of English language translations to succeed in this quest.
Global Arts will focus is on placement in the libraries and classrooms of high schools, colleges, and universities, and in gaining an audience through promotions, live presentations, and outreach to individual readers.
